FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, CLEAR ANSWERS.

The duration of treatment is individual and depends on the extent of the dental correction. Your practice will create an individual treatment plan after the initial analysis.

Our package structure at a glance:

  • Smile: up to 10 aligners → approx. 10 weeks of treatment time
  • Lite: up to 20 aligners → approx. 20 weeks of treatment time
  • Full: up to 60 aligners → approx. 60 weeks of treatment time
(plus possible refinement phases in each case)

One aligner usually corresponds to one week of wear. In individual cases, however, a splint can also be worn for up to two weeks—for example, during follow-up checks or slight delays in the course of treatment.

Important: Please do not dispose of used aligners immediately. Label them and bring them with you to your next check-up so that the practice can respond appropriately if necessary.

Our aligners are made of highly transparent plastic and are virtually invisible in everyday life—even when viewed up close. Many patients report that those around them do not even notice the aligners.

The slightly gum-supported version provides more leverage and thus more effective force transmission to the teeth. At the same time, the aligner edge is even less visible when smiling if the aligner is pulled slightly further out onto the gums.

For treatment results that are consistent with the plan, the aligners should be worn for at least 22 hours a day.
They may only be removed for eating, drinking (except water), and dental care.

"No need to worry – please always keep the previous aligner stage. Reinsert it when you interrupt treatment and contact your dental practice. They will give you individual instructions on how to proceed."

No – aligners must be removed before eating and when consuming hot or sugary drinks. Only clear, cool water is safe.
Note: Hot drinks can deform the aligner, and sugary drinks increase the risk of tooth decay.

In the first few days of each new stage, you may experience slight pressure—this is a sign that the splint is working. This feeling usually subsides after a few days. If the pain persists for more than 3 days, please contact your dentist.

For short periods, yes – e.g., when eating, drinking (except water), or brushing your teeth. However, the daily wearing time of 22 hours must not be reduced, as this can jeopardize the success of the treatment.

The costs depend on the scope of treatment and the package selected. Your practice will provide you with an individual cost estimate.

Statutory health insurance companies do not usually cover the costs. Private insurance companies or supplementary insurance companies may reimburse a portion of the costs.

No problem – replacement splints can be reordered at any time. Please contact your dental practice so that replacements can be delivered quickly.

"Yes, after active tooth movement, a retention phase is essential to stabilize the achieved result in the long term. Recommended options include MEMOTAIN® or IVOTAIN. Your dental practice will be happy to advise you."

Yes, that is possible. The periodontium has what is known as “biological memory” and can pull the teeth back into their old position. A retainer provides reliable protection against relapse, especially in cases where significant corrections have been made.

In most cases: yes!
Seek advice from your dentist. A free initial assessment - e.g., via SCHEU-DENTAL - is possible in many cases.
